Alpecin Caffeine Liquid increases hair root activity and counteracts hereditary hair loss

Conducted by the dermatological group practice Dr. Peter, Dr. Seeber, Hamburg

Summary

This study impressively shows that the regular use of Alpecin Caffeine Liquid over a period of four months significantly increases hair root activity, making it an effective product against hereditary hair loss by stimulating hair growth and extending the growth phases of the hair.

Method

Unlike animals that periodically get a winter or summer coat, human hair growth is "aperiodic": some hair roots work while others are in the regeneration phase.

Normally, 85 % of hair roots are in the growth phase, and 15 % are resting. However, if too many hair roots fall asleep, it leads to premature hair loss and potentially baldness.

The hair root activity of the test subjects was significantly weakened at the beginning: on average, 22 % of the test subjects' hair roots were in the resting phase.

Test subjects: 39 individuals with increased hair loss (aged between 20 and 60 years)

Duration: The test subjects used Alpecin for 4 months

Result

After just 4 months of using Alpecin, the proportion of "sleeping" hair roots was measured again using a special "trichogram." It had reduced to 15 %, thus normalising! Consequently, premature hair loss was halted.

Bar graph showing inactive hair roots decreasing from 25% at start to 15% after 4 months, with 15% marked as normal value and above as increased hair loss.

During the test period, the participants assessed their own hair loss. According to their evaluation, hair loss while combing significantly decreased. Incidentally, the dermatologist's observations matched the participants' assessments. This means that the subjective impression that Alpecin Caffeine Liquid activates hair growth is not imagined.

The satisfaction of the participants with Alpecin was very high. Accordingly, 58 % of the participants wanted to continue using Alpecin Caffeine Liquid!

Bar graph showing index decrease from 1 to below 0.5 over 4 months, labelled "Very strong" to "Low", with arrow indicating downward trend.

Conclusion

The lead dermatologist concluded that Alpecin Caffeine Liquid met the required criteria in all aspects. From the dermatologist's perspective, the test product can be recommended as a cosmetic treatment against premature hair loss due to its good tolerability and proven effectiveness.

The product also has particular advantages in the preventive treatment of individuals with an increased risk of premature hair loss.
