Alpecin Hair care with caffeine

Questions and answers

The caffeine complex is made up of caffeine, zinc and niacin. Caffeine stimulates the hair roots, prolongs the growth phase and improves hair growth. Niacin and zinc are important growth factors for healthy hair roots.

The caffeine-containing combination of active ingredients neutralises the hereditary and undesired effect of testosterone – the growth phases are extended again to their natural length and hair growth is possible even in older age.

The efficacy of Alpecin always depends on regular application and the individual constitution of the scalp. Moreover other factors such as physical stress, an unhealthy diet, e.g. too much fast food, environmental toxins, psychosomatics, stress, lack of vitamins, occupational stresses (e.g., wearing of a helmet) can also accelerate hair loss.

Hereditary hair loss in men

50% of men are affected by hair loss. 80% of all cases are due to hereditary hair loss, “androgenetic alopecia”, which is a source of much concern to men. Hereditary hair loss is not a disease but a genetic disposition. As such there is no cure, instead it must be treated permanently. Alpecin prevents hereditary hair loss. The efficacy of Alpecin products has been confirmed in the following studies.

You can purchase Alpecin products at hair salons, pharmacies, drugstores or the drugstore aisles of grocery stores.

Alpecin products were specifically developed for the requirements of male scalps, which is also reflected in the fragrance and the very masculine packaging. However, the caffeine-based active ingredient complex is not gender specific and is thus also effective in women who suffer from hereditary hair loss.

Hair loss in women

In addition, with Plantur 21 and Plantur 39 Dr. Wolff has developed caffeine hair care products which are tailored to the needs of female scalps.

When does hair loss start and when should you start the Alpecin caffeine therapy?

If you are genetically predisposed to hair loss, you should start the therapy s soon as possible, i.e., after puberty. At this point in time, the male hormone testosterone will develop its negative impact on the hair roots' energy supply and shorten the hairs' growth phases until they fall out prematurely. As such, hereditary hair loss is not a question of age – take preventative action on a daily basis, e.g. with Alpecin Caffeine Shampoo C1. If you wish to know whether you are at risk, determine your personal hair loss risk in just a few minutes with our baldness calculator.

For more intensive prevention, it makes sense to use both products. Especially for people who do not wash their hair on a daily basis, the additional use of Alpecin Caffeine Liquid is highly recommended. When applied, it causes a fresh tingling on the scalp; its active ingredients travel along the hair shaft and form a depot sufficient for up to 24 hours.

The regular energy supply from the caffeine complex extends the growth phases of the individual hairs, thereby facilitating hair growth well into old age.

If treatment is interrupted, these hair growth phases will shorten and the hair will fall out prematurely. As a result, successful prevention of hereditary hair loss must be conducted early, regularly and permanently. Daily, long-term application is strongly recommended.

Many people suffer from scalp problems such as dryness, itching and dandruff. Many Alpecin products have been developed to specifically tackle these complaints. In addition, most of our products contain the proven Alpecin caffeine complex that works to prevent hereditary hair loss. The choice of the correct product depends on the concomitant scalp problems.

Alpecin recommends

In addition or as an alternative you can also massage in the Alpecin Caffeine Liquid each morning or every time you wash your hair. The caffeine-containing combination of active ingredients travels along the hair shaft and forms a depot sufficient for up to 24 hours.

Caffeine from coffee is not able to penetrate the scalp or the hair follicle. This requires a special carrier base (galenics) that transports the active ingredients to the location where they can develop their effect.

Is Alpecin really effective against hair loss?

The galenics of the Alpecin products developed specially by Dr. Wolff Research transport the caffeine into the hair follicles where it has been proven to stimulate the hair roots. Its efficacy has been demonstrated in the following studies.

Since you ingest coffee orally, it will first pass through the gastrointestinal organs to be absorbed by the organism at a later time. Subsequently, it is distributed throughout the body and only a tiny quantity reaches the scalp and the hair roots directly. As a result, a local and direct supply of caffeine to the hair roots is expedient and necessary. Even the consumption of 50 cups of coffee would not provide the hair roots with enough caffeine.
